January 4 to January 10
Another sleepy quiet week.
Lucky for us, it is very mild outside. We let our woodstove go out at night and we haven’t been relighting it until midafternoon or so. This means that we have been burning less firewood.
Unfortunately, the sudden shift to mild weather meant that I spent an entire day on the couch with a headache. Hard to spend any money when it’s too hard to open your eyes. However, while I was playing the invalid, the man accomplished a few frugal feats of his own. He mailed a request for a sizable manufactures rebate for a piece of equipment he purchased, sold some other equipment to a fellow hobbyist, and returned another item to the retailer for a refund. All these proceeds will be used to pay down debt.
For meals we roasted a chicken that provided enough leftovers for a couple of days. I also made pierogis for the freezer using ingredients we already had on hand.
I was lucky enough to work a short term job over the weekend. I brought my own snacks, coffee, and water to carry me through the work day. This will cover some of next month’s grocery bill.
How was your week?
